The First 72+ is “Making a Difference”

We are so excited to be featured on WDSU News “Making A Difference” Series! Two weeks ago we spent the day with News Anchor, Charles Divins, showing him around the new property we will be renovating in partnership with RisingFoundations to create space for our transitional housing program, as well as affordable rentals for residents leaving the transitional program. One thing we have learned over the last year since we opened our first house is that even when our residents leave us after having saved enough money to cover a first months rent and a down payment they are getting their rental applications denied because they either do not have sufficient credit history, or on the basis of their felony conviction alone. This inspired us to launch “phase 2” of our housing program where in we create an opportunity for our residents to begin developing rental history and credit history.
