2nd Annual Second Line for Equal Justice

November 6, 2017

The Second Line for Equal Justice returns!

New Orleans remains the incarceration capital of the world.
The Right to Counsel, a basic 6th amendment right, is still in jeopardy and mass incarceration and institutional discrimination plague our criminal justice system. It is time for true reform.

Join us to second line and rally for equal justice in New Orleans
and demand our local and state decisionmakers fully fund our public defenders and prioritize a fair and just criminal justice system.

Spearheaded by John Calhoun, OPD and the Original Big 7 Social Aid and Pleasure Club, partner organizations include ACLU's Campaign for Smart Justice, Voice of the Experienced, Young Men Olympian, Junior Benevolent Association, Confederacy of Cruisers, Innocence Project of New Orleans, Louisiana Center for Children's Rights, Justice and Accountabiltiy Center of Louisiana, First 72 and Rising Foundations, Women with a Vision, Homer Plessy Community School, We Dat's Chicken and 2K Photo.

We will be joined by two of New Orleans' hottest brass bands: The Big 6 Brass Band and the TBC Brass Band.

The Second Line will kick off at 12 pm at Kermit's Mother in Law Lounge and parade to the rally on the steps of Criminal District Court at Tulane and Broad at 2 pm.
